GUY-URIEL E. CHARLES is the Charles J. Ogletree Jr. Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. He also directs the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice. He writes about how law mediates political power and how law addresses racial subordination. He is the co-editor, with Alexandra Natapoff, of the book America Unfinished: 250 Years of Law and Governance, an essay collection from Harvard Law School faculty.
