Martha Allen Price has served as Executive Director of Extra Table, Mississippi’s statewide nonprofit food bank, since March 2018. Under her leadership, Extra Table has grown 174%, navigating a global pandemic, supply chain disruptions, a government shut down, and a 25% rise in food costs. She is driven by the belief that food is a basic human right and is dedicated to ensuring no Mississippian goes hungry.
Extra Table has received numerous accolades, including the 2024 Shining Example Award for its March of the Mayors initiative and the Champion of Economic Impact Award from Sports Destination Management for its Farm to Fork Ride or Run. In 2019, Extra Table was honored in Washington DC as the Taste of the South Charity of the Year. Martha was also honored as a ‘Good Soul’ by syndicated columnist Bill Crawford. Additionally, she was named one of the MS Top 50 leaders and an American Heart Association Woman of Impact, further cementing her role as a leader in health and community impact. Martha played a pivotal role in lobbying for the creation of a foodbank income tax credit ensuring greater financial support for hunger relief efforts across Mississippi.
She spearheaded the creation of Extra Full, Extra Table’s first food product—a red beans and rice meal kit packaged by volunteers. She also revolutionized Extra Table’s distribution model, securing a warehouse, trucks, and direct-from-manufacturer purchasing with CHOW, expanding from Sysco’s early delivery system.
A Clarksdale native, Martha previously served as Main Street Director for West Point, launching the city’s first Farmers Market, the state’s first Lemonade Day Entrepreneurship Program, and revitalizing the Prairie Arts Festival.
She has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including Make-A-Wish, NCADD, Rotary International, Junior Auxiliary, and the Boy and Girl Scouts. Named Woman of the Year by the Daily Times Leader in 2012, she holds a B.S. in Interior Design and Art History from The University of Alabama and a Master of Design in Architecture from Mississippi State University.
