Congressional Candidate

I'm a 35 year old working-class mother of two who is on my 3rd run for the U.S. House as a Democrat in Idaho's First Congressional District. I was recruited out of my freshman year of Community College where I double major in criminal justice and political science to run because it was nearly impossible to find candidates in a district that receives no financial support or attention. I grew up with a single mother who worked 2-3 jobs at a time, was very politically active as a teenager, being an advocate and public speaker for diverse students in Idaho's foster and school systems, managing local state rep. campaigns in 08 before life went a different direction. I met my husband 16 years ago, had my daughter at 21 and became a stay at home mom who worked on the side because we couldn't afford childcare. I spent eight years at home, had my son, became a foster mom, before deciding I needed to get involved in public policy again and going to college at 30 years old. I have spent the last four years learning how to do rural progressive politics differently, how to communicate to rural voters successfully without compromising my progressive policy. Putting the focus on working-class families and people, holding elected official accountable, and organizing in a rural district that has been left behind by national progressives for nearly 3 decades.
