Dr. Garrick founded Whistleblowers of America (WoA) as a nonprofit in 2017, which provides voluntary peer support to those suffering the impacts of Workplace Traumatic Stress. She developed the Whistleblower Retaliation Checklist© (WRC) to identify negative psychosocial impacts on victimized employees and provides forensic testimony. She is also founder of the Workplace Promise Institute opened in Pensacola, FL in 2021, which is also the title of the annual WoA conference.
Previously, she served as a US Army Social Work Officer and in executive positions at the American Legion, the Departments of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense (DoD) and with the US Congress House Committee on Veterans Affairs. Her areas of expertise include policy and program development for disabled veterans/wounded warriors, whistleblower mental health, suicide prevention, and organizational leadership development. She is a recognized public servant with awards from several distinguished organizations. She is the founder of the FAR Group, which provides consultation to public and private organizations that need development, advocacy, and educational support.
Dr. Garrick is a published authored, media source, and an international public speaker having also worked on projects in the former Soviet Union, for the US military in Germany and Afghanistan, and the World Health Organization in Switzerland. She has been an invited speaker in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Greece, and Israel because of her co-authored book, The Psychosocial Impacts of Whistleblower Retaliation and her numerous articles and has presented at the UN Anticorruption Convention in Qatar.
She is a social work master’s graduate from Temple University in Philadelphia and has her Doctorate from Middlesex University in London. Additional professional training was at Johns Hopkins and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is a licensed social worker (LCSW-C) in MD and is credentialed through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP), a Board-Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress (BCETS) and Whistleblower Protection Advocate (WPA).
