Social Impact /Homeless Activist
Eric Protein Moseley is a social impact documentary filmmaker, homeless activist, and published writer whose life story embodies resilience, transformation, and advocacy.
Born and raised on the west side of Detroit, Eric faced early struggles with gang involvement, addiction, and single parenthood. For nearly two decades, he and his daughter, Erica, experienced homelessness from coast to coast. These lived experiences gave him a unique perspective on the spectrum of homelessness and fueled his mission to bring dignity, awareness, and solutions to the issue.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Eric educated people experiencing homelessness about the coronavirus, addressing a critical information gap for one of society’s most vulnerable populations.
Eric leads the global campaigns “Mandate Future Politicians to Prioritize Homelessness” and “Homeless Voices Matter: Listen to the Voices of the Homeless,” including a call for international attention that must echo in South Africa. Through these initiatives, he amplifies the voices of the unhoused, challenges stereotypes, and drives systemic advocacy for lasting change.
As a filmmaker, Eric directs projects through Skid Row Journey, producing social impact documentaries such as Understanding the Spectrum: Exploring the Classes of Homelessness. His writing has appeared in major outlets including the LA Times, DC Report, Capitol Weekly, Michigan Advance, Utah News Dispatch, South Carolina Gazette, Florida Independent, Kansas City Star, Johannesburg Star, and The Big Issue in London.
From overcoming addiction and homelessness to becoming a global voice for change, Eric’s journey demonstrates the power of resilience, purpose, and advocacy. Today, he continues to amplify marginalized voices, challenge misconceptions, and push for long-term solutions to homelessness. @MandateAChange
