BIO: Alysia Cutting

Known throughout New England for her voice and programming on WEIB 106.3 Smooth FM radio, Alysia has received multiple awards for her artistry, volunteerism, and community service. A lover of the arts, she is a singer, dancer, actress, international model, poet, inspirational speaker, and voice-over artist. Her genuine love of people, authentic personality, comedic timing, and expressive smile light up every space she enters!

A native of greater Springfield, MA, Alysia is an engineering graduate of Tuskegee University, and a former engineer, math & science educator, magazine editor, Vice President of Membership & Marketing for the YMCA of Greater Springfield and Director of Marketing for Wallingford Family YMCA. She is Camp Director for the historic Black American residential summer camp, Camp Atwater. She served as Rural Health Equity Director for SOWEGA Rising, advocating at the state and national level on medical debt, Medicaid and closing the coverage gap, the maternal health crisis, holistic wellness, access to nutritious foods, children's dental care, and other issues affecting rural and marginalized communities.

Alysia is a Frank Hatchett-trained dancer of multiple genres who continues to perform and lead dance workshops focused on the Afro-Diaspora. As a runway model, she has walked in Fashion Weeks including NY, LA, Miami, and Paris. She's been on TV, in films, and in stage plays throughout MA, CT and GA, including "Little Shop of Horrors", "The Vagina Monologues", ”Chicago”, the 911-inspired play “Children in the Playground”, a Boston production of “Harlem Renaissance with a Gospel Flavor”, multiple tours of “for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf”, and a virtual production inspired by the life of the artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat that was part of the 2020 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

In addition to radio, her media endeavors include producing and hosting “Media Mama TV”, an all-women talk show. She previously hosted a cable TV show, provided video announcements at her church, and created a cable show to highlight YMCA programs called “Why The Y.” She is a freelance editor, a social media content creator for several organizations, and handles the public relations and marketing for the gospel group, “Provision”, of Albany, GA.

She is a sought-after guest speaker, panelist, minister, and emcee who regularly speaks at churches, schools, and youth organizations. Alysia will release her book, “Check One Box: Reflections on Race, Ethnicity, and Color" in 2025. Alysia is a proud mom of 4, a grandma of 2,
and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
